The Drikung Kagyu Monlam is an annual prayer festival for the Drikung Kagyu in North America, which invites lamas from around the country to a different host center each year. This year’s Monlam will be held at Drong Ngur Jangchubling in Wesley Chapel, Florida.
The Monlam is the most important time of the year for Drikung Kagyu practitioners. It is held during Saga Dawa, the fourth month of the Tibetan calendar that commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana of Buddha Shakyamuni. The parinirvana of Lord Jigten Sumgon also happens during this time. Therefore, the Drikung Kagyu Monlam is the one time each year dedicated to reflecting upon and remembering the kindness of Buddha Shakyamuni and Jigten Sumgon. This extraordinary event brings great teachers, monastics, and students together to practice and rejoice in the blessings of the lineage and enlightened beings. It is a special opportunity to come together as a devoted community and honor their contribution of dharma to our lives. Please make an effort to join in and support the community of practitioners at this rare and special event.
Drong Ngur is excited to have the opportunity to host this celebratory prayer festival commemorating the parinirvana of Lord Jigten Sumgon!
**Please note that all sessions are open to the public, and everyone is welcome to attend. Lunch will be served on both Saturday and Sunday to the full sangha, including all attendees. All times are Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)**
