Drong Ngur Jangchubling and Drupon Thinley Ningpo Rinpoche are delighted to announce an upcoming event at our center in Wesley Chapel, Florida! On Saturday, August 21st from 11am – 5pmEDT, Drupon Rinpoche will bestow Refuge Vows and Bodhisattva Vows. Additionally, Rinpoche will give teachings on the benefits of taking refuge in the three jewels, and also the profound qualities of bodhicitta.
The teachings and vows will also be available online via Zoom and Facebook Live.
Taking refuge is the foundation of all Buddhist practice and the basis for all Buddhist vows and precepts from Shravakayana, Mahayana, and Vajrayana. In taking refuge, the practitioner resolves to have the Buddha as a guide, the Dharma as the path, and the Sangha as companions on the path. To take refuge in the Three Jewels provides protection from the fear of suffering and is the source of immeasurable merit.
The Bodhisattva Vow is taken with the intention to guide all beings to complete awakening and bodhicitta is the heart of the bodhisattva path. As Jigten Sumgon has said, “the intended meaning of all the Dharma taught by the Tathagata is encompassed within practicing the two kinds of bodhicitta.” The two kinds of bodhicitta are relative bodhicitta and ultimate bodhicitta. Relative bodhicitta is the motivation to perfect oneself and help all beings be free from suffering, have happiness, and attain the state of complete awakening. Ultimate bodhicitta is the primordially unborn emptiness of mind and all phenomena in samsara and nirvana. It is the way things are in their fundamental nature, free from extremes and lacking inherent existence. Relative and ultimate bodhicitta are inseparable, but as beginners on the path, we practice cultivating them step by step.

Be always well and happy.
May all beings live in accord with the Dharma,
And may their every Dharma wish be fulfilled.”
