Sarasvati Empowerment and Teachings

Drong Ngur Jangchubling and Drupon Thinley Ningpo Rinpoche are happy to announce a weekend event devoted to Sarasvati, the wisdom deity of music and the arts. On Saturday, December 7th Drupon Rinpoche will bestow a Sarasvati Empowerment, with teachings and practice to follow on Sunday, December 8th. Please join us for this special event!

Sarasvati, or Yang Chenma as she is known in Tibet, is a wisdom-generating deity who is often depicted as white or red and playing a lute with her fingers. In Sanskrit, her name means “she who flows” and she is the embodiment of various activities related to fluidity, such as the literary arts, poetry, and music. As well as being a yidam, Sarasvati is sometimes known as the consort of Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of wisdom and knowledge. The great Tibetan master Jamyang Khyentse Chokyi Lodro, who has written hymns in praise of Sarasvati, has said that reciting her mantra will bring increased intelligence.
